Back in January the ability for Canadian Office 365 Tenants to procure PSTN numbers from Microsoft to make and receive PSTN calls went into public preview. This feature is called Microsoft Calling Plans which is part of Microsoft Phone System (formally Cloud PBX).
The Canadian Calling Plans will include 3000 domestic minutes or 600 international minutes (whichever is reached first per calendar month). A new “Lower Minute Plan” which will include 120 minutes of domestic calling will also be made available. There isn’t a lot of new info on this plan but as details emerge I will update this post.
Microsoft will also offer an additional feature for US and Canadian customers. This will allow for any calls made between US and Canada users (in both directions) to be considered domestic, not international. This is not a surprise given most of the major SIP Trunking provides in Canada offer this benefit as well.
In order to purchase Calling Plans for users, they must first have the appropriate licensing. The E5 licence already includes the required Microsoft Phone System license. With E3 and E1 you will need to purchase that license. Below shows the options breakdown as well as US street pricing.
Its important to note that only the E5 includes PSTN Conferencing. All other plans would require the purchase of the Audio Conferencing license which is $4/month USD.
